Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March, 1991. She's an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The first single, Pho which was released on 21 October 2016 was released through Dreamville Records. Her career began to grow in notoriety. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox has released her music online since 2012 following the debut mixtape "Five Finger Discount" and her EP Ariography. She continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, from Sweat It Out, on July 21 the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole was interested by her talent and was looking to collaborate with Rihanna. On December 28, 2008 the news was made public that Rihanna had signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. In the month of October the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of her own 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening artist. In 2018 she guest-starred on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. And Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video was released on September 5th. Then on the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). On November 13, she released two additional singles, titled One and Pdigree. One and Pdigree. The singer appeared alongside Cole on The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16, and then she released the song as a solo single for her debut album. In February the music video for the song was released. The song has received over three million YouTube views in just one week. In December of 2018 she performed on her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
